Where Are You?

Dear Friends,

I have just completed the introduction portion of our new study, "A Woman's Heart, God's Dwelling Place". The opening question is in reference to God pursuing Adam and Eve in the garden and his question to them of "Where are you?” Beth Moore turns the question on us and asks the same as God is pursuing each of us to the "whatever it takes" level of life. I am praying for each of you, I am praying for myself; that God will do a new and fresh thing in each of our lives as we take the next 11 weeks to pursue Him as He calls us to. I want to encourage you to not let anything knock you off track of this discipline. If you fall behind, pick yourself up and begin again. Know that there will be every distraction possible coming your direction, but if you press through you will be rewarded greatly with a new level of "Knowing God"! I am so thankful for each of you.

Please feel free to post your thoughts in response to the introduction and even your hopes for the next 11 weeks as we journey together. Remember that this blog is open to all of our women in this study from different groups, so be prepared to hear from a new friend that isn't in your small group or even your large group, but a part of our ECA family. May the Lord open our minds so that we may understand scripture!

My love and prayers are with you!

Cheryl J

Anyone else wondering why God chose to test Abram if if his original covenant was unconditional? It seems like a pretty big test and I understand the significance of the test but...
any insights.

I’m not surprised that God tested Abram but am more struck by how God saved Isaac – the fact that “Abraham looked up and there in the thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns”. The symbolism of the Ram as the pre-incarnate of Christ and also again the reference to thorns that the ram was caught in as the evidence of sin from Adam and Eve in the garden is amazing to me. As Beth said “Jesus Christ was the Ram whose head was wrapped in thorns to secure God’s blessing for all who would receive it.” Awesome!

Just a side note and an FYI;
It's amazing that as I studied the hardness of the semiprecious stones that's spoken about in Exodus that I find that these stones rate from 6 to 9 in the hardness mineral category. Also, when the book of John speaks about Jesus' garment was seamless, woven in one piece top to bottom (Jn. 19:23). Well, a seamless garment even in today's society is considered very expensive as well as the precious stones. It just confirms how magnificient and truly awesome is our God that He gives us the BEST He has to offer us! No wonder not just anyone can come into heaven!
